    The best thing about Germany is that I discover a new tool brand almost every day. And they are very high quality stuff. I knew the Knipex anvil cutters was manufactured by Lowë. And knew about Weldmüller automatic strippers. Now, Bernstein, Alarm and VBW are new to me. Judging by appearance, it seems that some Stahlwille pliers are actually made by VBW. And the Bernstein ESD pliers is costing over 100 USD each on Amazon Germany, quite expensive.

    I hate Wurth. I work with their tools every day. Some stuff is good but i cant love brand if they dont sell tools in my place for private persons. You need firm to buy them. I use a lot hex t handles and ratcheting spanners from them. Hex t handles are made from very soft metal. I have to cut off tips weekly to keep them in good shape for fasteners. Spanner in few months from 13 mm become to 13.5 mm wide. I have some old Wurth socket sets and those are made good. Work with them everyday and they are like new. But rn you cant buy anything good from them anymore. I use a lot Wurth caliper. For my work i tested Wurth vs Far East branded calipers. Ratio was like one Wurth against two Far East calipers. But price to Wurth was like 4x times bigger. I am just saying. They are not the same. They pretend with their prices that they are like tools for professionals but i think they could be at same shelf with some Stanley FatMax stuff. Sorry for my english.

      Well, in '74 they formed with Dowidat the Deutsche-Werkzeug-Union that was bought by Bahco in '88. In '91 Sandvik bought Bahco, so you could get Sandvik-Belzer tools. And now it is all owned by Snap-On. But don't believe that anything of that heritage was preserved. All the old facilities are empty or used to house refugees. Regards, Etna.

    I think the quick ratcheting feature on the mini Zyklop is just a thumb wheel. My VIM bit ratchet has one too, i think they're a pretty standard bit ratchet feature. It's weird because the ratchet engages in the same direction as the bit rotation, but once i figured that out it's been pretty handy in places where I can't get a good swing on the ratchet. There was some video by an aircraft mechanic I saw where he mentioned he preferred the design where the center of the thunb wheel is recessed (like on the Zyklop), though i don't remember exactly why.

    Is that true, German acetate handles will not smell bad over time if/when they start deteriorating? cellulose acetate butyrate is the material that will deteriorate and smell bad. Are German acetate handles made from a different material?

    • @Etna.

      I don't own any American brand of acetate but I do own PB Swiss screwdrivers. In comparison to German brands, it seems to be a different kind of acetate. I am no chemist to tell them apart. Und da die Dinger einfach super stabil sind, kann man das als Langzeitinvest betrachten. Viel Erfolg bei der Suche! Schicken Gruß, Etna.

      @Etna. 4 месяца назад

      Ist das wirklich so? Wundert mich, da im Alarm Katalog alle fehlenden Produkte mit VBW ergänzt werden. Aber ja, sie werden bei Stahlwille gefertigt. Bei Weidmüller weiß ich das nicht genau. Aber auch hier: Spielt das eine Rolle wer der OEM ist? Es gibt auch Felo Schraubendreher mit Hazet Etikett. Die Weidmüller Produkte habe ich zumindest nirgends unter anderem Label gefunden. Daher sind sie so schon einmalig. Ich möchte hier einfach nur auf die bunte Vielfalt unserer Markenwelt hinweisen, da im Ausland wohl nur Wera und Knipex gekauft wird. Schicken Gruß, Etna.

    • @Ben-fo9ey
      @Ben-fo9ey 4 месяца назад

      Das im Ausland viel Wera und Knipex verkauft wird, liegt auch an dem großem Vertriebsnetz der beiden Hersteller. Was ich nur sagen möchte: Im Endeffekt gibt es keine große Vielfalt mehr. Die Produkte unterscheiden sich meist nur optisch, da ein anderes Branding aufgedruckt ist. Früher war das anders. Vermutlich eine Folge von Outsourcing. VBW ist ein Tochterunternehmen von Stahlwille, daher auch der Vertrieb durch Alarm. Meine Reaktion auf diese Videos soll nicht negativ verstanden werden. Ich finde deine Videos sehr interessant! MfG Ben

      Ahhh, daher weht der Wind. Ja, manchmal ist das einfach ein Fallstrick zu viel, den man dann nicht durchschaut. Ich habe Deinen Kommentar keineswegs negativ verstanden. Ich glaube nicht, dass es ein früher vs heute ist, da auch schon damals die Firmen um Remscheid herum bereits viel füreinander gefertigt haben. Als Vollsortimentler ist doch klar, dass man sich Werkzeug für die Nische lieber dazu kauft als es tatsächlich selbst zu fertigen. Solange die Qualität da ist, ist mir das Recht. Für mich ist das keineswegs Kritik, höchstens eine Anekdote. Aber hey, wir haben noch schöne Hersteller wie zum Beispiel E.C.E. ich finde das darf man schön feiern. Schicken Gruß, Etna.

      Well, it depends on what you are looking for. Bernstein i.e. is a perfect choice for ESD tools. Weidmüller is also specialised purely in crimping tools. I like Löwe for their scissors. Alarm seems to be a great choice for plumbing as they fill their rest of the catalogue with VBW pliers. These are just some choice names as the list could go on. In the Remscheid region i.e. are still many small niche manufacturers that are doing great work but only sell one specific kind of tool. Regards, Etna.

      Thank you for your feedback on those! Great to hear that I'm not talking nonsense. Regards, Etna.
